International Exhibition of Illustration from “Le immagini della fantasia 38” (Images of Fantasy 38).
For Valdagno, this illustration event is a special and unique moment dedicated to art, books and fantasy, much loved by young and old and by schools of all levels.
2012 saw the start of a collaboration between the Valdagno Municipality and the Zavrel Foundation of Sarmede (Treviso), which annually organises the international children’s illustration exhibition “Le immagini della fantasia” (Images of Fantasy) .
The exhibition “Le immagini della fantasia” (Images of Fantasy) was created in 1983, from an idea of Štěpan Zavřel, a Bohemian artist of international fame who in 1969 chose Sàrmede to make it the centre of his life and creative research. Starting from this historic date, the exhibition is inaugurated every year at the “House of Fantasy” in Sarmede and travels tirelessly around Italy and the world.
In Valdagno, illustration has found fertile ground to grow.
The exhibition is held every year in the prestigious space of the Galleria Civica Villa Valle, where adults and children give life for almost two months to an educational and playful moment where illustration becomes the protagonist.
The exhibition “Paesaggi inaspettati e altre meraviglie” (Unexpected landscapes and other wonders) is a selection of works from “Le immagini della fantasia 38” (Images of Fantasy) life and creative research. The aim of the exhibition is to place illustration and the image at the centre of a path of rediscovery of beauty. The body of the exhibition, curated by Gabriel Pacheco, is a heterogeneous meeting of voices on literature and illustration: classic and contemporary texts, powerful and silent narratives, ancient and experimental techniques, aesthetic thoughts and philosophical reflections. The creators of illustrated stories show us different ways of reading the book, and therefore the world.
