The “Arte e Territori” (Art and Territories) project that the Municipality of Vicenza has been pursuing since 2019 and which last year saw the exhibition dedicated to Romano Lotto in the Palazzo Chiericati‘s Hypogeum Rooms this year presents yet another important artist from Vicenza with a long and successful career. A career that covers a period of time from the end of the 1950s to the present day, crossing a time span that has seen many radical changes in the field of art worldwide and therefore also in the places where Beghini is and has been active: the provinces of Vicenza, Venice and Northern Europe.
the themes
The theme of the exhibition is specifically to highlight the theme of “the form”, which is also the theme that most affected the art of this particular period and which in Beghini‘s work found particular application not only in the various painting disciplines practised by the artist (oil, tempera, watercolour, fresco, collage, etc.) but also in engraving and ceramics.

The style
Versatile, experimental, technical and curious are some of the adjectives that can be attributed to his artistic personality and have engaged him in various pictorial endeavours, in important graphic works and in experiences in the field of ceramics from a very young age.
The exhibition offers a sample of each of the previously mentioned artistic pieces of evidence and of their coherence, corroborated by numerous personal and collective exhibitions that since the mid-1960s have been proposed, appreciated and presented by critics, gallery owners, other artists and associates, but above all also by personalities of culture and literature.
The friendship that linked Beghini to many of these personalities across generations is also evidence of a vital web of constructive collaboration and mutual stimulus in the cultural reality of the city.
the artworks
The exhibition includes around forty works created between the end of the 1990s and today: oils, temperas and acrylics on canvas, collages, engravings and some sculptures that mark the artist’s path with various reflections linked to form, apart from the object in its technical declinations.
La forma
The evolution of the concept of “form” is in fact one of the most interesting and innovative factors in 20th-century art. Up to the extreme limit that is the abolition, the negation of form itself. And the intermediate passages between the mimetic function of reality and total aniconism are no less fascinating.

Miraldo Beghini‘s work interprets this artistic temperament and is also particularly significant in this sense since, by covering a vast area with slender boundaries, it demonstrates how form occupies a fundamental role in his work: claiming a legitimate residence in the world of reality but also free to challenge every law of its physics.
